Our Sacred Plant Medicines

If you want to deepen your spiritual connection and alignment with the divine flow and the intelligence of the universe… and the first step is acknowledging your individual connection to the web of earthly creation, and what better way to start is with the multitudes of earth-based medicines. As American nayives, we know and believe strongly in the interconnection of all of creation. This is why we as KM practice our healing arts in a way which includes the natural world and the whole person – body, mind and spirit.

Plant magic will have the desired result regardless of the strength of the caster, due to the fact the plants themselves have high levels of magical properties contained within. With its multiple uses, the speed and effectiveness of its power, plant magic is one of the most popular arts used today. All herbs have a particular vibration and are mixed in such a way that when they are used they bring the body into balance, as all ailments occur when your body is out of balance, the possibilities when using herbal magic is unlimited, or only limited by your imagination.

When examining some of the most ancient cultures across Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas and up through time to the preindustrial age we observe many clans, sects, and tribes partaking of psychoactive and other plants for spiritual and/or medicinal uses.

Though no one knows for sure exactly when human beings began using herbs for medicinal purposes, we know that for food as well as spiritual reasons they have been essential since the beginning of at Least our existence, and likely long before as Archaeological evidence indicates that humans were using medicinal plants during the Paleolithic, approximately 60,000 years ago. For instance, many of you might not know about the  60,000-year-old Neanderthal burial site known as "Shanidar IV", in northern Iraq has yielded large amounts of pollen from 8 plant species, 7 of which are used now as herbal remedies!

We know that as Omnivores, Paleolithic humans were historically known for being both hunters and gatherers; It is believed that once-upon-a-time ago that their diets consisted of wild game, insects, leafy greens, grasses, nuts, and fruits just as most of our species still eat to date minus the bugs at least intentionally now as was back then, and of course too, their diets of prehistoric humans would have varied considerably depending on the regions in which they lived. Aside from food, there is also archaeological evidence suggesting that humans were using medicinal plants in the Paleolithic Era The World Health Organization estimated that 80% of people worldwide to date rely on herbal medicines for some part of their primary health care. In Germany, about 600 to 700 plant based medicines are available and are prescribed by some 70% of German physicians.

The Egyptian "Papyrus" consists of lists of ailments and their treatments, ranging from "disease of the limbs" to "diseases of the skin" and has information on over 850 plant medicines, including garlic, juniper, cannabiscastor beanaloe, and mandrake. Herbs used by Egyptian healers were mostly indigenous in origin, although some were imported from other regions like Lebanon. Other than papyri, evidence of herbal medicine has also been found in tomb illustrations or jars containing traces of herbs

The ancient Chinese, Greeks, Romans, Indians (meaning those of India), Egyptians, Babylonians, and too, tribal Americans were all known for honoring herbalists among them who were both medicinal as well as spiritual healers, such are we as KM, and this is why it is such an honor and Privilege to be in the position of sharing our knowledge as well as our personal and collective resources and tools with all of you here, through KM's Den, and most of all, through KM School where  we offer high quality herbal education online with the hope of bringing an herbal education to as many people as possible and helping passionate folks follow their dreams of becoming an herbalist.

Other non-human primates are also known to ingest medicinal plants to treat illness . All of the hoops of humans have and continue to appreciate and utilize the endless gifts given us by Great Creator and Mother Earth and we as KM are honored to share with you what we learn as we travel the good medicine road from all sources of wisdom bestowed upon us.

Through the Middle Ages, herbalism was preserved in the monasteries of Britain and mainland Europe. In the 16th and 17th century an interest in botany revived in Europe and spread to America by way of European conquest and colonization. The Benedictine monasteries were known for their in-depth knowledge of herbals. These gardens grew the herbs which were considered to be useful for the treatment of the various human ills; the beginnings of modern medical education can be connected with monastic influence. Monasteries established themselves as centers for medical care. Information on these herbals and how to use them was passed on from monks to monks, as well as their patients

Written record of herbal medicine use showed up in 2800 B.C. in China. From the early Chinese Empires to modern physicians’ offices, herbal medicines have continued to be a part of the medical field. Herbal treatments have matured throughout history, along with the methods of delivering them.botanical medicine or herbalism, involves the use of plants, or parts of plants, to treat injuries or illnesses. This field also covers the use of herbs or botanicals to improve overall health and wellness.

Traditional herbalism has been regarded as a method of alternative medicine in the United States since the Flexner Report of 1910 led to the closing of the eclectic medical schools where botanical medicine was exclusively practiced. In China, Mao Zedong reintroduced Traditional Chinese Medicine, which relied heavily on herbalism, into the health care system in 1949. Since then, schools have been training thousands of practitioners – including Americans – in the basics of Chinese medicines to be used in hospitals

Seeds, leaves, stems, bark, roots, flowers, and extracts of all of these have been used in herbal medicine over the millennia of their use. These supplemental treatments have been delivered raw, in teas and tinctures, as topical applications, in liquid forms, and in pills and capsules. Herbs and other plants are actually the precursors to many of today’s medicinal drugs. Some of the pharmaceutical medications on the market are extracts of some of these traditional herbs.

When it comes to anxiety for example, research suggests that applying essential oils topically might perhaps be one of the most effective ways to experience the full benefits. In the case of lavender essential oil, a study showed that the medicinal properties of lavender entered the blood stream in as little as five minutes of rubbing the oil on to the skin.

Herbal medicines are still in use today. In some respects, they have gained a new momentum in the medical field. People are seeking alternatives to the modern medical interventions. Improving, and maintaining, health naturally is a very popular approach to overall wellness. As many people seek alternative treatments and begin to check out traditional, and Eastern, medicine, herbs are becoming more popular. As physicians seek new treatments for many common illnesses they are beginning to revisit the traditional remedies, using herbal medicines.

The cultivation of herbs for medicinal uses is a large field and more people are beginning to plant their own herb gardens. Many monasteries continue to grow large herbal gardens within their walls. Knowing the importance of obtaining this wisdom, KM is honored to not only have this respurce to offer you, or even our KM's Den, but more importantly, that we are able to offer you the exclusive opportunity to learn first hand what sacred priceless wisdom in this aspect that many healers have passed on regarding the knowledge of traditional medicine from generation to generation in the KM School as we ourselves continue collecting and obtaining More!

Our Medicine Bundles

The teachings and medicine of the Plant Medicines, including those included in our bundles are not exclusive to any one culture but are for and too belong to anyone who will take the time to learn, respect value and appreciate them. traditional healers promote traditional And New Age/"Alternative" medicines, as our form of holistic health that combines spiritual beliefs and herbalism to treat patient members and their relations and loved ones. Therefore the bundles KM offer are not from a specific nations creed such as "American Indian", African, Asian, etc. Unless specifically identified as such.

The medicine bundles from KM are properly prepared by a single or collective/combination of Spiritual leaders, Medicine persons (Shaman) and/or Elder is specific to them, and created according to their customs for very specific focused purpose. The bundles we offer are from All cultural creeds and are each ceremonially prepared in their own unique traditional manner for their specified purpose.

“All plants are our brothers and sisters. They talk to us and if we listen, we can hear them.” The vital energy that moves through the plant world is believed to be the same vital energy that moves through all of life on earth.

KM Spiritual Bundles

Medicine bundles mature and maintain the clear-sighted and unfettered connection we need to create great healing and to come into a resilient and harmonious relationship with life.

The uses and curative effect of these plants were strongly interconnected with ritual. For many tribal cultures, the plants in and of themselves were sacred. Supernatural powers resided in their tissues as a divine gift to humans on earth. Americans believe that illness is a sign of misalignment in spirit as well as in the physical body. Addressing the spiritual well-being of the sick is considered equally or even more important than addressing the actual physical ailments. This idea seemed preposterous to the profoundly Christian settlers but it comes full circle to today’s modern scientific belief that our emotions as well as our spiritual health play a substantial role in our physical well being.

Please note that many psychoactive plants have continued to maintain a place in modern secular and religious societies around the world and though Some of our spiritual bundles Might include them not all do and too, that you don't Have to use them if you choose not to. What's unfortunate that the knowledge of their historical uses and meanings have been lost to the ages for the vast majority of people in today’s modern urban societies.

KM Medicinal Bundles

The Medicine Bundle can have many different uses. Of course, an individual can have one for their own personal medicines. There can be Tribal Bundles, Warrior Bundles, Hunting Bundles, Dreaming Bundles, and Vision Bundles. This is just a few uses for the bundles that can be used today and have been used for centuries. Typically a Medicine Bundle would be made by a Medicine Man or Woman, especially if there is a need for a group bundle or for a particular use. Medicine Bundles come with their own set of rules because they each have a specific purpose. They should not be given to someone who would not honor the sacred responsibility of the Bundle’s Medicine.

The content of healers’ bundles vary based upon traditions, ranging from feathers, totem animal remains, sacred drums and rattles, crystals, skulls.  herbs, pollens, feathers, sacred mountain dirt, stones, scrub oak branches, juniper bark, cattail flags, wild rice grass, rock sage, bear grass, plants with pods, and many other grasses and tree branches.

Coven Bundles

Plant magic is an age old tradition dating back to ancient Egyptian times, it has been used for many purposes, such as healing, self empowerment, love spells and protection. Common practice has long been to carry a charm bag with a variety of herbs to bring about many things, such as a protection or to attract love. The casting of spells involves working with powerful (and often dangerous) magickal energies and is by no means some- thing that should be undertaken by an untrained novice. Whenever working with energies, you should always take care to protect yourself the best you can

Essential Oils

Essential Oils have been an essential part of our species evolutionary history which we as KM hold in very high esteem and more often than not refer to them as being "Creator's Medicines" and among the more important "earth medicines." Truth be known, since the beginning of recorded history the plant kingdom has provided rare and powerful extracts and essences that have long been prized for their beauty enhancing, medicinal, spiritual, aromatic and therapeutic value, we accredit for aiding in Quality of life.

Most don't know that the earliest essential oils usage evidence occurs in the period of 3000-2500 B.C.

Aromatic plants, essences and oils have been used for ages in ceremony, religious observances, beauty care, food preparation and preservation, as incense, and for perfumes.  Because essential oils have aromatic, fragrant molecules they can actually pass right through the blood/brain barrier, having a direct effect on the areas of our brain in charge of controlling feelings of stress and anxiety and even panic and depression.  Aromatic plants have also been the basis for herbal and botanical medicines and remedies for thousands of years. In fact, they’re the root of today’s pharmaceuticals.  some essential oils are referred to as "adaptogens" because they can literally "adapt" to the needs of the person using the oil.
