What's the Deal with Pappas's McNeal?

Today we are going to take a look back at Patrick Dayton McNeal, former attorney and too, former conman of Matthew Scott Pappas.

McNeal's disbarment speaks Volumes to the great many whom found themselves and their wallets victims of both Pappas and McNeal, especially in their church scam of 2016. We feel that an important thing for people to know andn keep fresh in their minds is that ultimately McNeal was punished long ago for his shady ways by the California State Bar. The bar court found that McNeal engaged in the unauthorized practice of law, committed an act of moral turpitude, failed to perform legal services competently and did not cooperate with the bar's investigation and so ultimately they forbad him from ever practicing law in the state of California for the remainder of his life.

The reason we feel this "old news" is still rather pertinent today, is that we have received communications from people stating that McNeal is attempting to solicit work from them saying he can legally represent them in their canna-business endeavors. Truth be told, McNeal lists himself as being "Principal at Charter Legal Case Management Services, LLC." According to his own description "Charter Legal Case Management Services, assisting with Litigation Support for small firms, in-house counsel for small business, and pro-per representation the Southern California Area." McNeal further notes that the company is "a non-profit organization that sponsors various community outreach programs, mostly faith or recovery based."

We found it interesting to find that indeed McNeal is still reflecting himself as being in the position of helping people

In a default proceeding that followed six prior disciplinary orders in 20 years, the State Bar Court found that McNeal committed 39 counts of misconduct in five matters. The court found that he failed to return unearned fees, perform legal services, account for client funds, communicate with his client and cooperate with the bar’s investigation. He also committed acts of moral turpitude, commingled personal and client funds in his trust account and abandoned clients... a claim all to familiar to the great many McNeal ripped off under the promise of protecting them legally under the guise of claiming them a church, to the tune of $100k Plus per person!

In recommending McNeal’s disbarment, Judge Donald F. Miles said McNeal has “repeatedly committed misconduct during 21 of the 35 years of his practice. This is (his) seventh disciplinary proceeding. Probation and suspension have proven inadequate to prevent continued misconduct. And, no compelling mitigation has been shown.” In all five cases, McNeal represented criminal defendants but did little or no work. When the clients sought refunds of their fees, he either issued a check against insufficient funds or ignored the requests.

So, what all is McNeal doing these days?

Well, it would appear that ole Patrick McNeal is doing plenty. To begin with, McNeal claims himself to be the "Director" of a Company Named "Greatful Foundation." McNeal reports that the Dates he's been employed with them is from July 2014 also through to Present. The Employment Duration McNeal claims to have been working for this company is 3 yrs 6 mos. According to the records, the companies Location is in Garden Grove, California and it's licensed as being a Non-profit Organization who claims to be "sponsoring and funding various Community Outreach Programs within the Southern California area." According to McNeal's page, the company is designed for "Serving At-risk Youth with Education, Vocational Training, and Recovery; Transitional Housing for Parolees and Probationers; Faith Based Recovery Services"

As far as McNeal being the "Principal" at "Charter Legal Case Management Services, LLC.", to which McNeal claims the dates he became employed with this company are from May 2012 to Present, making his employment Duration a total of 5 yrs 8 months thus far. This company is also located in Garden Grove, California, and it's interesting as the company claims and prides themselves as "Providing extensive litigation support for the practitioner with caseload responsibilities which exceed its staffing, or experience. Also providing litigation support for Pro-Per or Self Representation and In-house Counsel for small businesses and artisan industries." Correct us if we're wrong but isn't McNeal skirt-tailing around practicing law as he is not allowed or entrusted by the state of California to do?
