Marc Emery married on July 23, 2006 and together they have devoted more than 24 years of leadership and history in cannabis advocacy & political activism. they were co-owners of Cannabis Culture magazine, the Canadian version of America's "High Times" magazine, which has and continues to give Trans-high an honorable run for their money when it comes to cannabis magazines. The Emery's also co-owned "Pot TV", and too have long been known and praised for the retail store Cannabis Culture Headquarters they've maintained on West Hastings since before Marc was snatched by the US and incarcerated in federal prison for 5 years for having sold cannabis seeds through the mail from the store..
What prompted the Emery's attack by Canadian authorities this go round is because the couple began cannabis retail dispensaries in late April 2016
March 8th of 2017 the Emery's were stopped at Pearson International Airport in Canada while attempting to go to "Spannabis"which is an annual cannabis event in Italy. They ultimately were arrested and charged for what Jodie calls "Our peaceful political civil disobedience." In the words of Jodie Emery "We helped hundreds of thousands of people, directly & indirectly. We were brave and not afraid, because we knew that we were helping save lives & campaigning constantly to end cannabis criminalization."
Here is the position of the Emery's as to the invaluable resources they offered to their community:
• We provide a positive, welcoming, safe space for cannabis consumers and enthusiasts.
• We believe the cannabis culture worldwide deserves freedom, equality, and dignity.
• We are proud to offer access to high-quality cannabis, cannabis accessories, and information about cannabis, hemp and political activism.
• We are committed to defending the civil liberties and freedom of cannabis consumers, growers, and providers by campaigning to end unjust criminalization and persecution.
• We believe in the power of activism and peaceful civil disobedience to advance cannabis law reform and to demonstrate what legalization should look like.
