Activist Dana Beal Arrested in Emerald Triangle, California
We just received word from a very important and dear front line defender of cannabis liberation as well as treasured member of our church, that cannabis activist Dana Beal has officially been arrested in Trinity County, California as of December 16th 2017! For those of you unaware of Dana, he is a 70 year old New York activist
Dana was arrested Saturday night in Hayfork, Calif., a rural community about a hundred miles south of the Oregon border, Trinity County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Jill Lynn told the Daily News. Police claim that the vehicle he was riding in had been swerving and driving about 15 miles under the speed limit. Authorities identified the driver as Michigan resident James Statzer and told local media that "A year ago this week, both Beal and Statzer were arrested together in Oregon after a state trooper searched their vehicle and reportedly found 55 pounds of marijuana and $1,800 in cash." Additionally they state that Dana was convicted of transporting more than a hundred pounds of marijuana in vans pulled over in Nebraska in 2009 and Wisconsin in 2011.
Officials confirm that Dana was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of cannabis for sale and ALSO on a felony charge for attempting to transport marijuana across state lines. A spokeswoman for the Trinity County District Attorney said Beal was due for his first appearance in court Tuesday.
