Boutin's scheduled in federal court tomorrow in Tennessee

ATTENTION PLEASE

For those of you who haven't heard, KM members Michael & Tawni Boutin of southern Oregon and The emerald Triangle were indicted by a federal grand jury on May 21, 2018, with charges of "conspiracy to distribute large amounts of marijuana" according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant.

According to information presented in court on May 17, 2018 against the Boutin's, the Jackson county Metro Narcotics Unit received information about suspicion of a "marijuana manufacturing operation" at a residence in Madison County, Tennessee which the Boutin's happened to be visiting during the time while on vacation from the west coast. Law enforcement officers initiated a :Knock and Talk" seeking permission to search the property despite not having a valid warrant in hand. Unfortunately, they were granted permission to search the residence and property by the owner William Brian Cisco and while conducting the search, police say they quickly discovered "an active marijuana indoor grow operation inside the residence."

From the residence and also after obtaining a warrant and searching the Boutin's tour bus which was located on the property, law enforcement claim to have seized "20 pounds of marijuana and three pounds of butane hash oil," which is a "marijuana concentrate."

US Attorney Dunavant told local media "Here in the Western District of Tennessee, we are not 'weed country,' and this office will enforce the rule of law by prosecuting marijuana cultivation, distribution and possession aggressively, consistently, and unapologetically,"

On May 21, 2018, a federal grand jury returned an indictment against both the Boutin's as well as William Cisco, charging all three defendants with "Conspiracy to distribute large amounts of marijuana with knowingly and intentionally manufacturing, attempting to manufacture, possessing with intent to distribute and attempting to possess with the intent to distribute marijuana and marijuana concentrates."

Both Mike & Tawni are scheduled into Court tomorrow whereas William Brian Cisco of Jackson, the other co-defendant whose house was busted due to him granting permission to law enforcement officers (LEO) to search his home and land without a warrant, which led to their arrest and this case faces the same charges as well as with an additional charge of possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, will be sentenced on March 1 according to media and the courts.
