Douglas County Oregon becoming Questionable as far as emergency resources go

We Want you to look at the map that we included in an article the other ay regarding the areas affected by what's now being called "The storm of the Century" by county spokespeople trying to help deal with this "State of Emergency" that even the state governor now agrees is devastating tens of thousands of residents:

The American Red Cross planned to open a new shelter at the Elkton High School by 6 p.m. Saturday, which IS in their "Red Zone" by the way, it's the ONLY resource facility that Is, Most as you'll see (2) are in the city of Roseburg. Anyway, they HOPE to get the Elkton shelter equipped with food, water, cots, and power for heat and charging electronics. The Elkton Gas Station is being powered by a generator and reports that they will be open to SELL you gas, diesel and propane from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Sunday for those who need and can afford it.

For those into calculating rain sits about 13 Miles from that yellow border of the county between it and Cottage Grove just to give you an idea of their ratio there.

The other 2 warming shelters are open at the Dream Center, 813 SE Lane Ave., Roseburg, and the Lookingglass Grange, 7426 Lookingglass Road, Roseburg. The Dream Center opens at 7 p.m. and the Lookingglass Grange is open 24 hours a day from what we're told by local media sources. hours. Our understanding that the actual Red Cross Shelter in Winston at their Foursquare Church, Oregon is closed... figures, when people actually Need it it's closed, right, and at the Church no less - geese.

So what about the Rest of the residents in need of resource options, especially those in their "Red Zones"? It's great to hear that the residents of Roseburg are all coming together and helping one another and that local businesses and government agencies are all right there willing to jump in and help their residents and all, but look at their map and see how many outside of Roseburg need so much more help compassion and brotherly love to be flowing their way.

Another factor that many don't stop to necessarily consider is that many residents do not have Transportation options such as in their "Red Zones", so as you look at that diagram Again, consider That as a position of Many of these residents - not by their choice in as much as because of circumstance... what about Them - how do They get to these scarce shelter options.

Near our sanctuary area there remains absolutely NO SIGNS of Any type of resource assistance being so much as Trickled toward resident, not a sign of any Red Cross anything, there still remains absolutely no direct contact from the electric company themselves toward their customers for heaven's sake - they have no Problem promptly sending out a Bill in the Mail but cannot even send a simple post card telling people their estimate at how much longer they will be going without. Those in the areas that are going to be without for a week or two Hopefully won't forget those who will continue to go without once their power comes back on and they have the ability to shower flush toilets, refrigerate and freeze not to mention actually properly Cook actual Food and tune into actual News sources and hear for themselves what's been going on in the world since they were knocked out of the "loop" so to speak.

What about those who don't have immediate resource alternatives to turn to, who face huge electric bills while on fixed incomes and who are faced to pay the bill knowing they will Not be getting power for another few weeks after giving them all they've got to give? Will Douglas Electric offer extensions to those especially in the "Red Zones" who choose to secure an immediate power source oppose to paying their bill? Will there be any sort of credit or compensation offered to their customers, especially if they start getting Extra state & federal Money on the grounds that the Residents are suffering through this "State of emergency"... I guess in time we shall see, but personally we won't be holding our breaths at Any sort of Compassion or consideration being shown their Customers.

Our sanctuary are callling for any supplies, support or resource options that can be offered and passed forward to community members in our "Red Zone" in need of help and hope. Any and all you can and are willing to contribute can be sent to the sanctuary headquarters directly. Also too, a Few members in the state are working on coordinating "caravan" type options to get supplies to where we nee them to be.

Please continue to make smoke and prayers for all struggling through the aftermath of this storm,, an as always we Thank you for your continued interest and support be well all and go in a good way with brotherly love in heart mind and action!

The Red Cross shelter at the Winston Foursquare Gospel Center has closed.
