Many of the techniques in martial arts training systems  including KM's Tactical Self Preservation training programs require great balance and flexibility. Both of these skills are emphasized in schools with drills, and static and dynamic stretching. Static and dynamic stretching is a key part of every warm-up.

Some techniques require more balance and flexibility than others. Front kicks, for example, require balance to plant one foot on the ground while kicking with the other. Front kicks also require great flexibility to bring the kicking foot to appropriate height. The consistent repetition of techniques like this will improve flexibility and balance over time.

The balance and flexibility gained from martial arts can be almost universally beneficial to performance in other sports. In fact, I can’t think of a single sport where increased balance and flexibility wouldn’t be helpful.

Focus mitt training is said to have come about as Muay Thai and Far Eastern martial arts made their way toward the United States in the late 1700s.  This training is essential when it comes to learning KM's tactical self preservation. Focus mitts help martial artists practice as an augment to sparring, with more explicit focus on the puncher than the feeder, especially to develop good punch combinations and defensive maneuvers such as "slipping," "bobbing" and "weaving" teaching them how to avoid a punch by ducking and weaving (without fear of being hurt if struck given the padded nature of the focus mitt).

Similar to a focus mitt but designed for different purposes are heavier Thai pads used in muay Thai boxing and MMA, kicking shields, body shields and uppercut shields used in a variety of martial arts to help gauge distance and practice techniques with kicks,  knees, elbows and uppercuts.  Working pads, combinations and even sparring with a variety of people will ultimately give you more versatility and knowledge. This progress is crucial to your training.

Repetition, repetition, repetition.

Pad drills are key, not only to hone your striking skills and cardio performance, meaning your Endurance is also improved through technique drills, but hitting the pads and shadowboxing for prolonged periods actually increases heart rate and over time, improves your overall endurance and self confidence as well. All martial arts training systems teach mental discipline and emphasize the values of good character and good work ethic consciously as well as subconsciously.

KM's tactical self preservation training techniques emphasize endurance with cross-training and technique. Core strength is important for any sport, especially ones requiring a repeated exertion of force. Martial arts core training will help anyone’s performance in kicking a ball, throwing a ball, etc. Martial arts will also improve an athlete’s efficiency in using their own strength.
