The United Cannabis Ministry
The United Cannabis Ministry (UCM) first opened in the year 1979 under the name "The Marijuana Ministry" by the Reverends Steven & Seeva Cherms, which by the hand, will and persistence of Hemperor Herer flourished into the first ever cannabis church collective, or as we say: "confederation" of the times... in August 2005.
We can't emphasize Enough that it IS the oldest still operating CANNABIS CHURCH not only in the continental United states but across the Globe. The reason we try because as you see, there are Others who are running around trying to stake that claim as their own, some even going so far as to name and title their churches as "The First" such as "The First Church of Cannabis" though tend to leave off their claim as such is per within their states boundary, unless we say it's the "First Church of Cannabis" to sell-out our plant, people and churches
Original UCM Proclamation
The first gathering of the UCM was held on Oct.26-28, 2005. It was held in Laytonville, CA w/ about 30 people attending. The main purpose of the gathering was to form the first Proclamation with a Statement Of Purpose.
The Proclamation is as follows:
1. To spread knowledge of the most useful plant of the world
2. To cover the world with this plant.
3. Be sure that everyone can have marijuana.
4. To stop the persecution.
5. To promote and protect the religious and spiritual uses of cannabis.
6. To form a Body Politic so we can have a voice.
7. To create a sustainable world economy through the LIBERATION and proliferation of hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) cultivation.
8. To bring truth to the world.
9. To redeem what it is to be human together, through the ENTIRE cannabis plant family, as a sacred medicine and "True Hemp" as a sustainable resource.
10. To heal the sick and restore the planet.
